ELISA Kits are ready-to-use immunoassay kits that contain all the reagents needed to perform an Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). These assays can be used to detect soluble targets such as proteins, antibodies, hormones, peptides and other small molecules. The ELISA Bosterbio begins with a coating step, in which a polystyrene plate is covered with a solution containing antibodies or antigens. This coating is then washed to remove any unbound reagents. Next, the plate is incubated with a detection antibody that binds to an epitope on the target protein. The resulting binding between the two antibodies is then measured by adding a substrate that is converted by an enzyme to produce a signal, such as a color, fluorescent or electrochemical reading.

This signal is inversely proportional to the amount of analyte bound, and can be quantified using a standard curve or a spectrophotometer. The results can then be used to determine the concentration of analyte in the sample.

To evaluate the performance of several commercial ELISA kits, serum samples were analyzed using the DRG EIA-5186 (DRG Diagnostics, Marburg, Germany), Enzo ADI-900-097 (Enzo Life Sciences, Plymoth meeting, PA, USA) and Arbor Assays K014-H1 (DetectX, Arbor Assays, Eisenhower Place Ann Arbor, MI, USA) kits. All kits were used according to the manufacturer’s instructions. All ELISA kits were supplied with internal quality control samples including high and low assay controls and established acceptable ranges to check for intra-assay variation.
